This project is the one I've been building toward since the beginning of the semester without fully realizing it.
It started with Avatar. Specifically Pandora — James Cameron's vision of a planet that is entirely, biologically alive. Every creature, every tree, every root system connected to everything else. An ecosystem that breathes as one thing. I referenced this in my project one brainstorm and never really let go of it. Around the time I started thinking about project three, I fell into a YouTube rabbit hole of these wonderfully nerdy exotic pet people who build elaborate terrariums and self-contained ecosystems inside their homes. Little worlds that live and sustain themselves on a shelf. I thought that was one of the coolest things I'd ever seen, so the idea clicked. What if I built my own ecosystem? Not a biological one, but an electronic one. A terrarium or diorama where everything is made of circuits and code, and the whole thing is interactive. Trees that twinkle when you wave your hand near them. A waterfall with actual running water. Little beings that move through electricity the way real creatures move through instinct.
The juxtaposition I want to explore is this — everything in it will be objectively, technically dead. Wires, plastic, solder. And I want to make it feel alive anyway. Not make James Cameron's Pandora, but make my own
