For our second project, we're delving into the realm of soundscape creation. Recently, I had the opportunity to craft a soundscape in another class, using recorded ambient sounds from around campus. The outcome left me quite pleased, igniting my enthusiasm to embark on a similar endeavor once again. What particularly excites me about this project is the collaborative element, wherein we'll incorporate sounds recorded by our peers. This promises to infuse our compositions with a distinctiveness born from the diversity of experiences captured.
The concept driving our compositions is to encapsulate the essence of our daily lives through sound. In pursuit of this, I've carefully selected a medley of sounds that resonate with my own routines and experiences. From the rhythmic bounce of a basketball, reminiscent of my days playing D3 basketball, to the mundane yet universal sound of a toilet flushing, each sound serves as a snapshot of my everyday existence. Additionally, I've captured the ambient chatter of friends at my fraternity, the comforting creak of my apartment door unlocking, and the percussive thud of my fists meeting a punching bag.
As I dive into the creative process, I'm eager to explore the myriad manipulations afforded by our software tools. While my previous venture focused on looping sounds to construct beats, this time, I'm inclined to experiment with blending disparate sounds, as well as manipulating their pitch and resonance. This shift in approach promises a journey of discovery and innovation as I endeavor to craft a soundscape that not only reflects my life but also resonates with others.
