Artist's Statement, "Project one : Son of a Serendipitous Glitch

For this project, we stepped into the chaos of randomness and embraced the art of breaking things. We utilized AI to produce words, images, and videos from random generators, letting chance decide our raw materials. But the process didn’t stop there—these images were pushed, glitched, and broken apart, then sent back through AI again, cycling between creation and corruption until something surprising emerged. From this back-and-forth, we curated a small series of images, gifs, or videos, each born from accident and absurdity. In this way, the work is not about control, but about surrendering to chance and discovering beauty in unpredictability, something that can be challenging for me.

For my project, I allowed my personal style to shape the direction and let the theme emerge naturally. Using images suggested by my brother and cousin, I began to notice a repeating thread—Ancient Greece, the Olympics, gladiators, seduction, and fantasy. This resonated with my artistic aesthetic, so I leaned into it fully. I experimented with AI to transform these images and then applied glitch techniques to distort and reimagine them. One of my favorite approaches was using Photoshop’s “fake glitch” tools, which created effects I plan to continue exploring professionally. What excites me most about this process is the balance between chaos and craft: the randomness that AI and glitching can generate, and the way learned artistic skill can shape that randomness into something meaningful.
