My animation piece delves into the fantastical notion of inanimate objects coming to life when we're not looking, inspired by the mischievous spirit of Toy Story. Through Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, and Procreate, I bring this whimsical tale, "Room Rager", to life. The story begins with the mundane act of tidying up a messy room before bedtime, a routine we're all familiar with. Yet, as I drift off to sleep, the magic begins.
My belongings, from the ordinary to the quirky, awaken, and with a burst of energy, they transform my room into a vibrant party scene. In this animated world, my phone becomes the DJ, turning itself on and blasting some hype tunes for all to hear. Meanwhile, a toothbrush takes center stage, dancing wildly amongst wiggly pens and pencils, embodying the playful spirit of the night.
A container of Zyn pouches takes a dive and swim in my toilet, and my paint bottle, watch, and lighter show absolutely no respect for my space.
As the night progresses, my belongings lose track of time, leaving the room in disarray by dawn. I wake up to the aftermath, a room in complete array after an impromptu party, bewildered by the unexplainable transformation of my room.
I thoroughly enjoyed creating this piece. Although it was very difficult to learn the actual mechanics of animation, once I did, I was elated at how satisfying it was to see my objects move on screen. I have since been brainstorming future animation possibilities and considering how I might be able to create animations that I've seen on TV.
